It actually made the show the best of the three I've seen by this theatre company - well, that plus the three gay men Hedwig picked on all night (usually he chooses a female and refers to her as 'slutty' all night long, tonight it was 'the funny boys').
My husband bought a t-shirt and I signed their guest book with an enthusiastic 'Best show ever!' comment. Eh, they've already got my email address...

Okay - I'm tired right now, but in a day or two I'm comin' back to talk about some more movie stuff. I've got questions. I need answers... and some dramamine with black cherry soda perhaps...

I believe....

... that 'Midnight Radio' may very well be one of the greatest songs ever written.

Commentary Schmommentary...

My husband and I just watched the commentary on the Hedwig and The Angry Inch DVD and, I must say, I was really disappointed. It consisted of John Cameron Mitchell (which I was excited about) and the Director of Photography, Frank DeMarco (which - no disrespect intended - I was not excited about), discussing every aspect of the technicalia involved in making the film. Aside from the occasional semi-interesting tidbit regarding costume choices and scenery affects, it was altogether boring. Detailed descriptions around what types of lenses were used and how the lighting was adjusted in each shot is really only interesting, I believe, to about about .o2% of the Hedwig-fan population. Of course, I'm certain that a few novice filmmakers out in the world were completely fascinated by this commentary and it is for this reason that I think it should be left accessible on the DVD. But I wish there had been another reel of commentary by both John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask that delved deeper into the storyline and why certain story arcs were placed where they were, the extreme and difficult choices that were made in securing Hedwig on celluloid. I wanted an explanation about the ending, about exactly what it symbolized. So, in light of this complaint, I have two words for Mitchell: SPECIAL EDITION
